Co-Curriculars

SENIOR PRODUCTION: (December)

Every year, our high school's Madrigal Singers hold a special dinner during which they sing Renaissance-era music. The Senior Production, a short and comedic play featuring seniors in Renaissance roles, occurs near the end of the dinner. This is open to seniors only.

UWSP WRITERS WORKSHOP (December):

Since 2010, students from Chequamegon High School have been submitting work to the UW-Stevens Point Writers Workshop, a yearly conference held for high school juniors and seniors from across Wisconsin. In 2010, two of our students attended the conference in the categories of poetry and fiction. In 2011, six students attended in the categories of poetry, fiction/speculative fiction, and personal essays; one senior eventually recieved a $1000 scholarship in poetry for UWSP. In 2012, one senior attended the workshop, and in 2013 one junior attended the workshop. The writers workshop is open to juniors and seniors only.

FORENSICS (January - April):

Forensics is a co-curricular activity based on speech, acting and demonstration, and every year our students do incredibly well. Beginning with sub-district competition at a local school (February), students then advance to district competitions in Spooner or Hayward (March) before State competitions in Madison (April). Categories range from play acting and poetry to group interpretation and demonstration. It is open to all students. During the 2013-2014 school year, 33 students participated in Forensics, with 21 advancing to state in Madison--a school record.
